Palmistry as the practice of telling fortunes was mentioned first in palm reading literature during the Middle Ages.

The first book on palmistry is known to be written by a Swiss physician named Johann Kaspar Lavater, who wrote Physiognomische Fragmente for several years under different titles. The book included both hand and face reading.

German physician and occultist Ernst Wilhelm Hairy published a book in 1797 called The Laws of Palmistry, which is still referenced by many palmists today. In 1875, Cheiro wrote his first book on the subject, followed by a second volume in 1880. Many other authors soon followed suit.

    What is Palmistry?

Palmistry is the study of the lines, shapes, and other markings on the palm of the hand. Palm readers use these markings to read a person’s past, present, and future. Palmistry is not an exact science, and many palm readers will give different interpretations of the same markings.

Palmistry became popular in Europe during the 1700s. Palm reading books were often found along with other forms of divination such as cards, dreams, or tea leaves. In some countries, it is still customary for palm readers to read palms on the street or in carnivals.

    Types of palmistry

There are three main types of palmistry: chirology, dermatoglyphics, and phrenology. Chirology is the study of the hand itself, including the shape of the hand, the length of the fingers, and the lines on the palm.

Dermatoglyphics is the study of fingerprints and other markings on the skin.

Phrenology is the study of the skull and how it relates to a person’s mental and emotional characteristics.

Different interpretations of the same markings

Palmistry is not an exact science, and many palm readers will give different interpretations of the same markings. However, there are some markings that are commonly interpreted by palm readers.

The Life Line is a line that runs across the palm, starting from the edge of the palm underneath the little finger. It is often called the health line, and many palm readers believe that it represents a person’s lifespan.

In addition, some people believe that the width of the Life Line represents a person’s age at adulthood, while others believe that it can predict a person’s future or how they will die.

The Heart Line is a line that runs across the palm, starting from the edge of the palm above the thumb. It is often called the love line, and many palm readers believe that it represents a person’s emotional well being. In addition, some people believe that it can predict a person’s romantic relationships or their future in love.

Saturn is a circle that can sometimes be seen on the palm, between the Heart and Head Lines. Some people believe that this ring represents karma and destiny. In addition, some people believe that it shows early struggles and hardships throughout life.
